Due to the characteristics of sea water, metals in contact with the sea intend to corrode rapidly. For this reason, if metal structures such as marine vehicles, ballast tanks, pontoons, buoys, quay feet, quay platforms, bridge feet, under water pipelines are not cathodically protectected, corrosion losses which have a very high financial dimension occur in the following years.
Corrosion reactions occur simultaneously on the structure. The electrons (oxidation reaction) released by the anode portions of the structure use the cathode portions (reduction reaction) of the structure as a result of oxidation reactions, the anode-like parts of the structure begin to be physically damaged and ultimately rupture or break. The potential and condition of the structure determine which parts act as anodes and which parts act as cathodes. As a result of the electrons sent to the structure via an externally connected system; the system starts to act as an anode and the entire structure acts as a cathode.
In this case, there is no physical damage to the structure and is completely cathodically protected. The project and application systems related to the different Cathodic Protection methods to be selected on the basis of the physical properties of the structure are meticulously implemented by our company.
